At the forum, Mr. Lin Yunfeng, President of the China Knitting Industry Association, stated that the successful hosting of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in 2023 marked the beginning of the second decade of Belt and Road collaboration. As China's Capital of Underwear and Loungewear, Shantou serves as a pivotal force in accelerating the development of a modern knitting industry system. The intimate apparel sector, dominated by underwear and loungewear, stands as the largest segment in China's knitting industry, with a market scale reaching 400 billion RMB. In 2023, China's total exports of underwear and loungewear amounted to US$14.437 billion, ranking second in export contribution among all knitted sub-categories. Facing complex global dynamics, Belt and Road cooperation prioritizes connectivity and upholds the principles of equality, openness, and inclusiveness, enabling all parties to leverage their comparative strengths, unleash their potential, and advance practical cooperation tailored to local conditions.

Mr. Chen Fuzhong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shantou Municipal People's Government, addressed the forum, stating: "Since the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, its development has unlocked unprecedented dynamism and potential. As one of China's most internationally competitive industries and a trailblazer in BRI industrial collaboration, the textile and apparel sector has yielded fruitful achievements in economic cooperation with partner countries along the routes. Shantou's textile and apparel industry has evolved into one of the world's core hubs with the most comprehensive industrial chain and advanced supply networks. Its distribution channels span 192 countries and regions globally, with 40% of the world's underwear output originating from Shantou. Looking ahead, we aspire to expand exchanges and cooperation with more nations, jointly seizing opportunities and pursuing shared development."

He emphasized that the textile industry serves not only as an indispensable pillar in modern society but also plays an irrepLaceable role across multiple key dimensions: First, in addressing population growth and advancing industrialization, the industry accurately captures market dynamics to deliver essential goods meeting daily needs; second, through technological exploration and product innovation, it continuously breaks through technical bottlenecks to develop novel technologies and products; third, it generates substantial employment opportunities with diverse positions absorbing labor across all skill levels and sectors; and fourth, it directly stimulates development across upstream/downstream industries, creating industrial clustering synergies that powerfully drive regional economic growth.
